The death has taken place at Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts of Helena Gibbons, formerly of Carnurlaur, Ballindine. She was aged 108 years and left the region many years ago. She was an aunt of Annie Fahey, Killeen, Ballindine. Sympathy is tendered to family members and relatives on their bereavement.
She was formerly of 305 Maple St., East Longmeadow, and lived in Springfield most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Cathedral and was a member of the Catholic Womens Club in Springfield and also the Catholic Order of Foresters.
She was a registered nurse and a certified mid-wife at Mercy Hospital in Springfield having trained at Great Grimsby
Hospital in England and spent several years at Mass General Hospital in Boston. She leaves many nieces and nephews in the U.S., as well as in Ireland.
